Wing offers drone delivery as a safe, fast, and sustainable solution for last mile logistics. Consumer appetites for on-demand services are increasing, but current delivery methods are inefficient, costly, and contribute to road accidents and air pollution. Wing’s fleet of highly automated delivery drones can transport small packages directly from businesses to homes on-demand, in minutes. We design, build, and operate our aircraft, and offer drone delivery services on three continents. Our technology is designed to be easy to integrate into existing delivery and logistics networks, offering a scalable drone delivery solution for a broad range of businesses. Wing is a part of Google’s parent company, Alphabet, and our mission is to create the preferred means of delivery for the planet. To do this, we must build a workforce that’s representative of the global communities that we serve. If you’re ready to do the greatest work of your life, come join us.

We’re kicking off 2024 by making drone delivery a reality for even more people: Wing and Walmart are expanding service to millions of customers, leveraging Wing’s airspace approvals that facilitate service across the Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) community. Wing and Walmart will launch our newest drone delivery locations in the coming months and plan to complete the expansion within the year.
Last August, Wing and Walmart launched service together at two locations in DFW – reaching 60,000 homes via drone delivery. In our first 4 months of service, the response from Walmart customers has been overwhelmingly positive, using the service to order a range of products, including quick meals, groceries, household essentials, and over-the-counter medicines. And as our customers in Frisco and Lewisville know, on average those deliveries arrived in under 30 minutes and provided a convenient way to get what they needed, when they needed it.
“I had a Walmart delivery from Wing when we were running low on key ingredients for [a] recipe. We were so impressed that our eggs were delivered safely and likely had a safer journey than travelling by car in our trunk.” – Customer, Frisco, TX.
“We ordered through the app and received fresh guacamole and some candy within 15 minutes. The kids enjoyed the excitement of watching the drone on the app until it dropped our package safely in our driveway. Will definitely use it again. Much quicker than a drive to the store.” – Customer, Frisco, TX.
Our first months delivering to Walmart customers have made one thing clear: Demand for drone delivery is real. For instance, on a given Sunday, Walmart customers placed over 130 orders to ensure they were prepped and ready for the big game – receiving items like chicken, sour cream, avocados and limes. Via the Walmart store in Frisco, our regular customers order on average ~2 times per week – with our top 25% customers averaging ~3 orders per week. Our average flight time is 5 minutes!
Wing’s drone delivery service offers a safe and convenient way to get your everyday needs (or last-minute forgotten items!) delivered nearly instantly, and our recent regulatory approvals mean we will be able to reach more customers throughout DFW.
In 2019, Wing was the first drone delivery company in the United States to receive a Part 135 Air Carrier Certificate. Now, Wing’s new environmental approval in the DFW metroplex marks the first time the FAA has approved an entire metro area for drone delivery. While Wing has already been serving customers at up to a 6-mile radius from nests in Frisco and Lewisville, Wing’s recent summary grant enables us to move toward beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS) operations without visual observers across DFW and similar airspace surrounding other major U.S. cities, adding to the momentum of the drone delivery industry at large. This marks a paradigm shift in the way U.S. regulators are approaching approvals for these types of advanced BVLOS drone operations.
We believe 2024 will be the year of drone delivery—and our growing service with Walmart is a huge step forward. “Congratulations to Wing and Walmart on a growing partnership,” said City of Frisco Mayor Jeff Cheney. “In 2022, Wing picked Frisco to launch its first commercial drone delivery service in a major U.S. metro area. We consider our entire community an innovation lab and our residents embrace this service. Nowadays, Wing is more than a novelty in Frisco. The drone delivery service has evolved into a welcome, daily convenience for essentials like recipe ingredients, eggs, limes or over-the-counter medicines. The ease and efficiency of Wing’s drone delivery service enhances quality of life.”

DoorDash and Wing have developed the capability to make drone delivery available via the DoorDash app in Australia, delivering convenient access to food and essentials from local restaurants and retailers in 15 minutes or less.
Launching this week the service will be tested via a pilot program in Logan, located within the booming South East Queensland region.
The partnership, a global first for both companies, will also be the first time that Wing is integrating its drone delivery service within another marketplace, giving eligible DoorDash customers access to on-demand drone delivery by Wing.
DoorDash and Wing will pilot the drone delivery service in select suburbs in the Logan community, delivering a range of convenience and grocery items, pantry staples, snacks, and household essentials.
Initially available to a small number of households in the suburbs of Berrinba, Browns Plains, Crestmead, Heritage Park, Kingston, Logan Central, Marsden, Regents Park, and Waterford West, service will gradually roll out to more customers in surrounding areas over the coming months.
Eligible DoorDash customers will be invited to participate via the DoorDash app. Customers can place their order through the DoorDash Air store in the app, selecting Drone Delivery when prompted, and within 15 minutes, their purchase will be delivered by drone. Wing drones can carry a payload of just over 1kg, and travel at a speed of around 110km/h.
This new modality for DoorDash will allow customers to access efficient and sustainable deliveries and complement existing order volume on the platform, which Rebecca Burrows, General Manager Australia, DoorDash expresses as a priority for the online delivery platform.
“We cannot be more excited to be at the forefront of drone deliveries,” says Burrows. “Wing affords our customers the convenience and speed of air travel deliveries, of the local products and brands they know and love.”
“Drone delivery can provide an excellent complement to our ground delivery services. Delivery drones create a quick, efficient delivery option for smaller orders weighing just over a kilo, and free up ground delivery services for larger deliveries that provide better compensation to drivers.
“This partnership will bring the most popular delivery bundles that customers can expect to receive in less than 15 minutes. Whether it’s Vegemite and butter, iced coffee, corn chips and salsa, baby food and even band-aids, this will make accessing those last-minute necessities a whole lot easier.”
Simon Rossi, Wing Australia General Manager said as Australia’s first on-demand drone delivery service, Wing is investing in a range of local pilot programs, designed to help enable drone delivery at scale, and bring delivery to more Australians.
“We’re excited to be extending our drone delivery capability by making it available to customers through the DoorDash app, offering DoorDash customers added convenience,” Rossi says.
“Over the last few years, we’ve seen an acceleration of consumer demand for fast, contactless delivery options, and now people expect quicker, on-demand access to food, medicine, and convenience items.
“While Wing has traditionally provided delivery services directly to residential and business customers, to further accelerate our technology development, we’ll be increasingly working with marketplaces and logistics partners to expand their delivery options, making fast drone delivery affordable and sustainable for them, and their customers.”
Partnership benefits all sides of the marketplace, for Merchants, Consumers & Dashers
Through this partnership, DoorDash aims to provide an innovative delivery solution, complementary to traditional Dasher-fulfilled orders. With Wing, DoorDash will work to fulfil more orders for partner merchants while improving the customer experience––ultimately enhancing the DoorDash experience for all.
For Merchants – Bringing the best of Local Neighbourhoods – The partnership will combine Wing’s technology with DoorDash marketplace to create the first partnership to bring the best of local neighbourhoods to customers in 15 minutes or less.
For Consumers – The partnership will focus on bringing the most popular delivery bundles that customers can expect to receive in less than 15 minutes.
For Dashers – Drone delivery will provide an excellent complement to ground delivery services fulfilled by delivery riders and drivers. Rather than changing the volume of orders on the DoorDash platform available to delivery riders and drivers, the goal is to provide consumers with a quick, efficient and sustainable delivery option for very small orders while creating incremental order growth across the platform.
DoorDash sees automation as a means to develop the right platform solution to satisfy consumer demand across the globe, while improving efficiencies within the platform. DoorDash is committed to developing the best platform and network, collaborating with Wing to achieve that goal, together.
